Meet Dr. Kallis

Dr. John N Kallis is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with some 25 years of extensive experience and exposure to the specialty. He was born and raised in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area and continues to be an active resident of the Northern New Jersey/Bergen County Region. After graduating Fort Lee High School he went on to Fairleigh Dickinson University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude.  He continued on to Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1985. He furthered his training by completing an intensive Dental Residency program at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City was subsequently accepted into a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the East Orange Veterans Administration Medical Center. In residency, Dr Kallis was appointed chief resident  at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, NJ where he was responsible for overseeing the treatment of major Oral and Maxillo-Facial Trauma. His training also included a one-year General Surgery Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey which included rotations in Shock Trauma, Surgical and Medical Intensive Care, Head and Neck Oncological Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.

Upon completion of his surgical training, Dr. Kallis entered into private practice where he has successfully flourished treating thousands of patients with the utmost attention, personal care, and compassion. His personal commitment to the community is expressed in his strong belief and motto that “I will never turn away a patient in need of care”. Dr. Kallis practices a full scope of Maxillofacial Surgery, providing a broad range of services with emphasis on Dental Implants, Wisdom Teeth removal, Intravenous Anesthesia, Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) procedures, Pathology, Reconstructive Surgery, Bone Grafts, Facial Trauma, and Corrective Jaw Surgery. He maintains certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Dr. Kallis was a previous faculty member of the Hospital Dental Service at Columbia’s New York-Presbyterian Medical Center in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kallis has fulfilled numerous academic and clinical appointments and continues to maintain privileges and memberships at local hospitals and in several professional societies. Dr. Kallis actively attends lectures, seminars, and continuing education throughout the year to stay current with new science and technology within the field. He also has an international presence as a principal and Director of Implant Surgery at The Merimna Dental Institute in Athens, Greece where he is involved in surgically treating complex Oral Rehabilitative cases and in providing mentorship and education to European Dentists who are interested in expanding their scope in the field of Dental Implant Surgery.

Dr. Kallis has also received honors and awards from a number of organizations for his academic strides and for his service to the community. He is fluent in English, Greek, Spanish and Italian. Dr. Kallis is married with two children and when he is not working he is an avid sportsman and outdoors man, enjoys spending time with his family and traveling the world.
